- The M. K. Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government has raised the dearness allowance (DA) for its employees and teachers.
- The DA was previously 55%, and it has now been increased to 58%.
- This increase will take effect from July 1.
- The extra cost to the government from this increase is around ₹1,829 crores per year.
- About 16 lakh (1.6 million) including government employees, teachers and pensioners – will benefit from this raise.
